Since the official launch of Chrome Extensions site, one of the most requested extensions are those for use Twitter directly from the browser.

The very first Twitter client for Chrome was Chromed Bird, an excellent extension that keeps improving with each update. But this is not the only one, there also other nice Twitter clients for Chrome to choose among that really worth trying. Those ones are Chrowety and Kutano. So lest’s take a look at each one features so you can choose your favorite one:

Chromed Bird

This is my favorite Twitter client for Chrome. It has support for timeline, replies and direct messages reading,
sending tweets, and the latest version includes lists viewing and drag n drop tab reordering. It uses OAtuh for login authentication and its source code is available at http://wiki.github.com/cezarsa/chromed_bird

Chrowety

This extension has a nice user interface, with lots of options to customize it from its configuration panel. Besides tweeting, timeline, replies, DMs and favorites support, its list viewing support it’s really good. It also has new tweets alerts notification popups, tweets translating and preview for images and videos shared through Twitpic and YouTube.

Login can be done through OAuth or Twitter API. Check out Chrowety’s source code on http://code.google.com/p/chrowety

Kutano

Similar to Chromed Bird and Chrowety, this extension has support for sending tweets and reading the timeline, replies and DMs. It also has pictures preview and geolocation support showing your location on a small maps. One cool feature is that it shows the tweets that mention the website you are visiting, letting you know the social buzz of that site.

This client has two drawbacks in my opinion, one is the lack of Twitter lists support, and the other is that you need a Kutano account in order to use it.
