Finally Fring for Android hit the Android Market for free, allowing users to make free and cheap VoIP calls directly from their mobile phones.

If you still don’t know what Fring is, this service basically allow you to chat and talk with users from other services such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Google Talk, Skype, ICQ and AIM. Moreover, it supports calls to landlines and mobile phones using a SkypeOut/SkypeIn account or any other VoIP provider. Best of all is that you can user Fring over a 3G, GPRS or Wi-Fi internet connection.

The application itself is pretty simple. First you have to login with your Fring account or sign up if you don’t have one. The in the Add-ons option from the menu you can add the account of the services you want to use.

I have no problems chatting with users from MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Skype. Also calling users of Skype and Google Talk (directly from Gmail) worked fine and with good sound quality. The only drawback is that I wasn’t able call a user of Windows Live Messenger. Finally, you can add your Twitter account and receive notifications, but it’s a bit annoying having an alert for every tweet you get.

Overall, Fring for Android is really good. Maybe one point to improve is the contacts list, so you can filter or group users by service or status for example.
